As a freshman class we are reading "Twisted" by Laurie Anderson, and during Chapter 22 Tyler, the main character, discusses how it was "clothing optional day". The girls were dressed were very promiscuous and very much provoked sexual thoughts and comments. In the real world you have women dressing like this all the time. Each girl showing more skin than the next. The girls these days are dressing as "hussys". Although it is there choice and don't deserve rude behavior towards them, it is there own fault. I'm not saying horrid actions should be done towards them but if they want to dress like strippers then they should except the sexual comments and thoughts towards them, because in the end it is there own fault. A women has a choice in what her clothing is, and if she chooses the more skin revealing option she should know fully well what men or other women will think. Although it is wrong to make assumptions towards another human being we do it, every single day. As teenagers we do it every day even without realising it. We poke fun at the girls thong hanging out, or the girl whos shirt reveals her bra to the entire school system. We do this, whether it is nice or not. So as a teenager, especially as high school students should realise the more you show the more rumors that will be spread, the more boys will look and laugh or stare, and the more people will make the wrong assumption about you. So it is truely fair? No but yes in way because if you choose to dress like a street walker you know the consequences and it's your fault what thoughts, etc are made about you and your character.
Now that were on the subject of sexual actions. Let's go straight towards sexual harrassment. This is a horrid thing but women and or men either are poor victims or have caused this problem for themselves. For example, the girl who wears t-shirts 24/7 due to her well anormous breasts. She is stared at even when not revealing but it isn't her fault, but the girl who has the low cut shirt who needs a cami and doesn't wear one and then is poked fun at or is sexually harrassed has brought it upon herself by dressing innappropriatly. Honestly it's wrong to do it to any person but the girl dressing as a well "avaliable sexy female" has a choice to cover up and doesn't. So I believe she has more reason to have sexual harrassment issues. But could stop them by covering up her "assets" and focusing on other things
So girls take this as your heads up, if you don't want to be viewed as the "Girl Next Door" or another "hook up" then cover yourself, and think to yourself if you walked into a church would you be frowned upon? If so then change and cover those "assets" for another occassion, like the shower.
